FLIR AURA Early Fire Detection (EFD) is a thermal monitoring solution designed to identify abnormal heat, hot spots, and developing fire risks as early as possible. Combining the FLIR cameras with radiometric thermal and visual imagery with advanced AI-assisted analytics, AURA continuously monitors for abnormal heat while intelligently filtering common sources of nuisance alarms. When a potential fire risk is detected, personnel receive text and email notifications with direct access to near-live thermal and visual views and forensic investigation tools, enabling fast decision making to help protect property, operations and people and limit damages.

AURA provides 24/7 thermal monitoring to identify abnormal heat that may indicate a developing fire before smoke or visible flames appear in suitable applications. AI-assisted analytics help distinguish potential threats from vehicles, machinery, and sunlight reflections, reducing nuisance alerts and giving personnel greater confidence when an incident is triggered that requires attention.
Designed to support coverage of large and complex industrial environments, AURA can work with pan-tilt-mounted FLIR cameras to monitor large areas with a single camera. Depending on the site layout, camera selection, monitoring configuration, and required response time, a pan-tilt configuration can cover extensive areas, potentially up to 150,000 square meters, while potentially reducing the number of cameras required.
For battery energy storage systems (BESS), backup battery systems, battery storage facilities, and other suitable battery applications, an early warning could provide valuable time to take appropriate actions that may prevent thermal runaway, protect or isolate nearby equipment, relocate affected batteries, or take other corrective action before event becomes more serious and to limit the consequences of a thermal runaway. When AURA is integrated with an appropriate external control or automation system, an alert or output relay may be used to initiate actions such as stopping charging.
